FDA Announces Recall of Happy Moose Juice Products Over Safety Concerns

Product recall

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Food and Drug Administration has announced a voluntary recall by Youngstown Grape Distributors Inc., a co-manufacturer for Happy Moose Juice. The recall affects specific lots of Happy Moose Tropical Roots Juice and Happy Moose Strawberry Fields due to incomplete High Pressure Processing (HPP), a crucial step for prolonging shelf life and reducing pathogen risks.

The affected products are confined to certain batches: Happy Moose Tropical Roots Juice (Lot# H240903-E, BEST BY 12/02/2024) and Happy Moose Strawberry Fields (Lot# H240903-H, BEST BY 12/02/2024). These juices, distributed in 12-ounce RPET plastic bottles, were shipped in 9-count corrugated boxes. The important “Enjoy by 12/02/2024” date is prominently displayed on the bottle’s lower section, beneath the label.

Although no illnesses have been reported in connection with these products, the incomplete HPP treatment poses potential risks of exposure to harmful pathogens such as Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, and certain strains of E. coli. These pathogens can cause severe health issues, highlighting the significance of this recall for consumer protection.

Consumers who possess the specified Happy Moose Juice products are strongly advised to return them to the purchase location for a complete refund. For further inquiries, consumers can reach Youngstown Grape Distributors at 559-797-0252, available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST.
