WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an alert regarding the recall of 840 units of Chocolate Fudge with Nuts by Authentik Fudge, a company based in Sainte-Julie, Quebec, Canada. The recall was initiated due to potential mold contamination, raising concerns about product safety.

The affected fudge, branded as MONTREAL FUDGE, was distributed on June 19 and June 20, 2024, across various retail outlets. These include TJ MAXX stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming, as well as MARSHALLS locations in numerous states including California, New York, and Pennsylvania, among others.

The product is packaged in a distinctive gable box labeled MONTREAL FUDGE, with each box weighing 5.6 ounces. Consumers should be vigilant for the lot numbers 0241500805, 0241690105, and 0241690205, which have expiration dates of March 2025. These details can be found on the back of the packaging. Importantly, no other products from Authentik Fudge are affected by this recall.

This proactive recall follows a consumer complaint about mold discovered inside a purchased box. Subsequent investigations revealed signs of mold in some remaining sealed products during manufacturing. To date, there have been no reported illnesses linked to the consumption of the affected fudge.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are advised to discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
