$42 Million in Grants to Support Homeless Veterans with Legal Services

US Department of Veterans Affairs

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Veterans Affairs has announced $42 million in grants for eligible organizations to help homeless Veterans and those at risk with legal services.

Applications are due by 4 p.m. ET, July 7. Organizations can apply for up to $500,000 to fund operations for two years, from Oct. 1, 2025, to Sept. 30, 2027.

The grants, part of VA’s Legal Services for Veterans Grant Program, aim to assist Veterans by:

  • Representing them in landlord-tenant disputes to prevent eviction.
  • Helping with court matters like child support, custody, or estate planning.
  • Securing benefits such as disability compensation.
  • Defending against legal issues like warrants, fines, or license revocation that could lead to homelessness.

“Services to help Veterans obtain benefits, maintain access to housing and navigate other common legal issues can make a huge difference in preventing or resolving homelessness,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “These important grants will help us make a positive difference in the lives of thousands of Veterans.”
