Health Inspections Cite Violations, List Compliant Sites in Chester County

Food Safety Inspections

WEST CHESTER, PA — Several Chester County food establishments were cited for health and safety violations during inspections conducted Thursday, April 9, while multiple others were found in compliance, according to the Chester County Health Department.

At Einstein Brothers Bagels on East Lancaster Avenue in Paoli, inspectors cited unclean non-food contact surfaces, a loose bolt in an ice machine and potential rodent harborage areas. The report also called for a deep cleaning and improved storage practices.

Indian Hut on North Pottstown Pike in Exton underwent a follow-up inspection and was cited for multiple violations, including dented canned goods, improper reuse of single-use containers and inadequate cleaning in storage and preparation areas.

Inspectors also noted plumbing issues, insufficient lighting, missing temperature monitoring devices and grease buildup outside the facility.

At The Artillery Brewing Company on Granite Alley in West Chester, inspectors identified improper sanitizer concentrations, unlabeled food containers and a leaking hand sink.

Additional violations included a gap in an exterior door that could allow pests to enter and the presence of dead insects beneath equipment. Sanitizer levels were adjusted during the inspection.

  • Chartwells at East Coventry Elementary School, 2461 E Cedarville Rd, Pottstown;
  • Chartwells at North Coventry Elementary School, 475 Kemp Rd, Pottstown;
  • Chartwells at Owen J. Roberts High School, 981 Ridge Rd,
  • Pottstown; Chester Valley Little League/Malvern, 610 Monument Ave, Malvern;
  • Curiosity Corner (Food), 2970 Upper Valley Rd, Parkesburg;
  • D & L Meats at Oxford Farmers’ Market, 193 Limestone Rd, Oxford;
  • Locali, 123 E Market St, West Chester;
  • Main Line Tavern, 516 E King Rd, Paoli;
  • Triple Fresh Market, 801 Doe Run Rd, Coatesville; and
  • VIP Pizza & Pasta/Uwchlan, 471 E Uwchlan Ave, Chester Springs.

The health department noted that inspection findings reflect conditions observed at the time of inspection and may not represent long-term compliance.
