Chester County Reports Food Safety Violations at Multiple Sites

Food Safety Inspections

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Health Department reported multiple food safety violations at licensed food facilities following inspections conducted March 31, including temperature control issues, equipment deficiencies, and sanitation concerns.

The department said inspections represent conditions observed at the time of review and may not reflect long-term compliance.

At ACME Markets #192 in Tredyffrin, inspectors cited missing shellfish identification tags, refrigeration leaks, and cut melon held above the required 41°F. Structural issues, including a leaking roof over the meat sales floor, were also noted, with repairs ordered.

Avon Grove Intermediate School in West Grove was cited after a refrigerator used during lunch service was found operating between 55°F and 56°F. Food was relocated, and officials said the unit should not be used for temperature-controlled items until repaired.

Fellini’s Café in Berwyn recorded multiple violations, including food held above safe temperatures, unsanitary utensils, and a malfunctioning dishwasher. Several food items were discarded during the inspection, and repairs were initiated.

Little Chef Restaurant in Coatesville was cited for improper food temperature, lack of date labeling, and equipment issues. Inspectors observed a refrigerator holding food at 50°F and a dishwasher initially failing to dispense sanitizer before being repaired.

At Rick Petroleum in Phoenixville, inspectors reported hot food held below the required temperature, leaking plumbing in a walk-in cooler, and unclean surfaces. Food was discarded, and repairs were ordered.

Tacos La Guera in Avondale was cited for equipment and sanitation issues, including a deteriorated grill, a leaking water tank, and improper food storage practices.

Taichi Tea in Exton was cited for multiple violations, including improper food cooling, lack of labeling, inadequate sanitizer levels, and temperature control issues involving seafood products. Several items were corrected or relocated during the inspection.

The Nutrition Group at Renaissance Academy in Phoenixville was cited for inadequate food safety knowledge by the person in charge, improper food temperatures, missing labels, and sanitation issues. Multiple food items were discarded during the inspection.

Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company was cited after inspectors found several foods held above safe cold storage temperatures in a malfunctioning unit. The food was discarded, and the unit must be repaired before reuse.

VIP Pizza & Pasta in Uwchlan was cited for sanitation issues, improper reheating of food, lack of labeling, and improper storage practices. Inspectors also noted unclean equipment and waste handling concerns requiring corrective action.

  • Olive Garden in Downingtown,
  • Penn Brew in Avondale,
  • Starbucks in Malvern, and
  • Woodbridge Place in Phoenixville.
