WEST READING, PA — Tower Health, a leading healthcare provider in Southeastern Pennsylvania, announced a significant alignment of its cancer care services across the region. Beginning this November, Phoenixville Hospital Cancer Center and Pottstown Hospital Cancer Center will be renamed as McGlinn Cancer Institute at Phoenixville Hospital and McGlinn Cancer Institute at Pottstown Hospital, respectively.

McGlinn Cancer Institute, housed at Reading Hospital, is a nationally recognized clinical and research facility known for its advanced treatment options. This strategic alignment aims to connect cancer care across Berks, Chester, and Montgomery counties by leveraging the success of Tower Health’s three accredited programs.

“By tapping into our collaborative strength across the health system, we can support patients throughout their entire cancer journey – from screening to diagnosis, surgery, treatment, and survivorship,” said P. Sue Perrotty, Tower Health president and CEO.

The alignment will allow shared surgical expertise, clinical pathways, and best practices systemwide, providing patients with a complete care continuum. The goal is to ensure the highest standard of care, regardless of where patients live within the community.

Phoenixville Hospital, Pottstown Hospital, and Reading Hospital are all accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Radiation Oncology. This accreditation implies that these hospitals meet stringent clinical guidelines, ensuring patients receive top-tier cancer care close to home.

The benefits of this alignment include personalized treatment plans for each patient, access to targeted cancer treatments and immunotherapies, participation in the latest clinical trials, advanced radiation therapies like Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy, minimally invasive surgeries for faster recovery, and expertise in complex procedures.

“We are proud of the high-quality cancer care delivered at each of our hospitals,” said Rich Newell, president and CEO at Phoenixville and Pottstown Hospitals. “Aligning our teams and resources ensures everyone has access to our caring team members who can provide the best possible outcome for each patient.”

This alignment represents a significant step forward in Tower Health’s mission to reduce, remedy, and prevent cancer. The strategic move will not only enhance the quality of care but also make it more accessible for patients throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.
