Phoenixville Eyes Parking Lot Changes Ahead of Oct. 13 Vote

Borough of Phoenixville

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville Borough Council will consider reorganizing two municipal parking lots and changing permit and recreational-use rules on Oct. 13, a proposal that would move the Wheatland Street lot to a new lot number while establishing a separate Bridge Street lot.

The proposed ordinance would amend Chapter 15 of the borough code governing metered parking lots. Borough records list the measure as pending ahead of the 7 p.m. council meeting.

Under the proposal, the existing Parking Lot 6 designation would shift from Wheatland Street to a Bridge Street property on the north side of the street, identified as parcel 15-9-94E. The Wheatland Street property, parcel 15-8-49E, would become Parking Lot 12.

The ordinance would also expand an exception for Municipal Building parking permits. Vehicles with valid permits for the Municipal Building at 347-351 Bridge Street would be permitted in Lots 4, 5, and 6, rather than only Lots 4 and 5.

The seasonal parking exception for the Babe Ruth League of Phoenixville would move from Lot 6 to the newly designated Lot 12. The provision gives the organization exclusive use during specified hours from March 15 through Aug. 15, including additional periods for tournaments, showcases, or similar events approved by the borough manager.

The ordinance would take effect upon enactment if approved by Borough Council.

The borough’s legal notice provides for both in-person and remote participation at the Oct. 13 meeting. Instructions for remote participation will be posted at https://www.phoenixville.org/289/Legal-Notices-Ordinances-Hearings.

Council may adopt, amend, or defer the proposed ordinance.
