NEW LONDON TWP, PA — A proposed 150-foot communications tower in a residential zoning district will face a conditional-use hearing before the New London Township Board of Supervisors on October 21, putting a telecommunications development proposal before local officials for review under the township’s zoning ordinance.

Rise Up Towers LLC is seeking permission to construct the communications facility at 740 Saginaw Road on property owned by Jabby LLC, according to a township public notice.

The application covers a parcel identified as UPI No. 71-3-1.1 in the township’s Residential (R) Zoning District. The property currently contains a dwelling and other structures.

The proposed tower would rise 150 feet, introducing a telecommunications structure into an area designated for residential use. Its height and location could raise questions about visual impacts, neighboring properties and compatibility with surrounding land uses.

The application is being considered under Section 1-1319 of the New London Township Zoning Ordinance, which governs the conditional-use request cited in the public notice.

Conditional-use review allows township supervisors to evaluate whether a proposed development satisfies applicable zoning requirements before granting authorization. The process provides an opportunity for evidence and public testimony concerning the application.

The October 21 hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the New London Township Building, 902 State Road, New London.

Supervisors will consider the application as part of the public proceeding. The notice does not establish whether the board will issue a decision that evening or continue the matter to a later date.

The proposed communications facility has not received conditional-use approval, and the hearing represents a step in the township’s review rather than authorization to begin construction.

Residents seeking to participate in the hearing may attend at the township building. Individuals requiring disability-related accommodations can contact New London Township at 610-869-8658 to arrange assistance.
