Monica Mullaji Named Chester County’s New Open Lands Preservation Coordinator

WEST CHESTER, PAChester County Parks + Preservation has promoted Monica Mullaji to Open Lands Preservation Coordinator, a position that oversees the county’s Preservation Partnership Program. The program provides grant funding to municipalities and nonprofit land conservation organizations to permanently preserve significant natural, recreational, agricultural, historic, and cultural resources, improve public access, and support local and county land use policies.

Mullaji, who began her work with the department as an intern and later served for more than two years as Open Lands Stewardship Coordinator, will take over from Judy Thomas, who retired after 23 years with Chester County.

“Monica’s dedication to preserving and protecting Chester County’s natural resources and open spaces for future generations is an asset to our department and the wider community,” said David Stauffer, Director of Chester County Parks + Preservation. “We look forward to the continued success of the Preservation Partnership Program under Monica’s guidance.”

In accepting the new role, Mullaji said, “I look forward to continuing to strengthen and develop open space opportunities in my new role and am grateful to carry on the decades of innovative conservation work that Chester County is known for.”

A resident of Collegeville, Mullaji holds a Master of Science in City and Regional Planning from Temple University and has additional experience in parks and recreation as well as sustainable agriculture.
