EAST VINCENT TWP, PA — East Vincent Township will hold a public meeting October 26 to address the condition and operation of the Barton Meadows wastewater system, following inspections that documented sewer-line defects and raised questions about potential repair costs for customers already paying $1,904 annually for service.
The town hall is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the East Vincent Township Municipal Complex, with residents able to attend in person or participate through a Zoom livestream.
Township officials and professionals involved in operating, maintaining, and evaluating the wastewater system are expected to discuss its condition and answer residents’ questions.
The meeting comes as the township has made engineering materials, sanitary-sewer maps and closed-circuit television inspection records available for public review.
The inspection records document defects in portions of the collection system serving Barton Meadows, including pipe deformation, elevated water levels and damage observed inside manholes.
Records covering the Mourar Drive area identify a deformed section of sewer pipe and locations where water occupied a substantial portion of the pipe’s interior. Such findings are relevant to evaluating the system’s hydraulic performance and structural condition.
Inspections associated with Nottingham Drive and Barton Drive also identify damaged manholes, debris, and other conditions requiring engineering evaluation. Several reports document conditions at connections between sewer lines and manholes.
The records include inspections conducted in 2023. They establish conditions observed at that time but do not determine whether all identified defects remain unresolved.
The township’s evaluation could carry financial implications for customers if repairs, rehabilitation, or replacement work requires additional capital spending.
Barton Meadows customers currently pay $1,904 annually for wastewater service, equivalent to approximately $158.67 per month.
The inspection findings do not establish the cost of necessary repairs or whether customer rates will change. Those questions depend on the township’s assessment of the system and any subsequent decisions concerning maintenance and capital improvements.
The town hall will provide an opportunity for residents to hear directly from township officials and system professionals about the wastewater infrastructure and its ongoing evaluation.
