HARRISBURG, PA — More than $1.3 million in state funding has been approved for infrastructure upgrades across Chester County, promising safer streets, improved walkability, and critical water and sewer improvements in communities throughout the 26th Legislative District.

State Rep. Paul Friel, D-Chester, announced the funding package after the grants were approved Tuesday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund and Small Water and Sewer Program.

“I am proud to seek state funding to help make our communities safer and healthier for all here in Chester County,” Friel said. “This funding ups the quality of life in our communities and improves walkability. Pedestrians and motorists will benefit from the road and sidewalk enhancements, and everyone will live a little better knowing that their drinking water is healthy thanks to significant infrastructure improvements.”

Additional grants were awarded for water and sewer infrastructure upgrades across several municipalities. The Elverson Borough Municipal Authority was awarded $200,815 for improvements to Saddler Sewage Pump Station No. 4.
