WAYNE, PA — Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard opened a new location at 232 W. Wayne Ave. on Saturday, April 4, expanding the brand’s presence in Delaware County.
The shop will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., with summer hours shifting to 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., and is expected to employ about 10 workers.
The Wayne location is operated by franchise owner Angelo La Buono, who said the store aims to serve the local community.
“For me, this venture is more than just a business opportunity; it’s a chance to create something truly special that reflects our family values and brings joy to our neighborhood,” La Buono said.
Rita’s, based in Bensalem, was founded in 1984 and operates more than 600 locations across more than 30 states.
The chain’s menu includes Italian ice made daily on-site, frozen custard, gelati and other frozen beverages and desserts.
A grand opening event is planned in the coming weeks, with additional details expected to be announced.
