WEST CHESTER, PA — A tea tradition that began on a Chester County farm in 1975 is entering the canned beverage market as three generations of women behind Wizzie’s Tea prepare to introduce Fizzy Wizzie’s, a line of fresh-brewed sparkling teas scheduled to launch in October 2026.
The expansion traces back to Wizzie, who began brewing tea with fresh mint grown on her Chester County property more than 50 years ago. Her daughter, Juliet Mackay-Smith, and granddaughter, Ellie, are now carrying that family tradition into a new product category.
The company is introducing four sparkling tea varieties in 12-ounce cans, combining brewed tea with fruit juices and botanical ingredients. The beverages are intended for consumption on their own or as mixers for cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks.
The launch represents a product expansion for the family-owned brand, moving beyond its original brewed-tea tradition into packaged sparkling beverages.
“My mother gave us the inspiration, and now my daughter and I are having some fun with it!” said Mackay-Smith, co-owner of Wizzie’s Tea. “We wanted to make a tea you could enjoy in different ways and take anywhere.”
The initial lineup includes Lemon Mint, made with Ceylon black tea, lemon juice, fresh mint and cane sugar. The flavor draws most directly from the family’s original tea recipe.
Passion Fruit Lime combines Ceylon black tea with passion fruit juice, lime, cane sugar and pink peppercorn.
Blueberry Hibiscus contains hibiscus flowers, blueberry juice, blue agave and cardamom, while Lemon Mint Green Tea uses gunpowder green tea, lemon juice, fresh mint, honey and lemongrass.
The beverages are packaged for individual consumption, with the company positioning them for use as ready-to-drink refreshments or as ingredients in mixed beverages.
The family connection remains central to the brand’s development. Wizzie’s original use of fresh mint continues in the new mint-based varieties, while the addition of carbonation, fruit, and botanical ingredients reflects the direction taken by the next two generations.
Fizzy Wizzie’s is scheduled to launch in October 2026, with distribution planned at select Earth Fare stores.
The introduction marks a new phase for a business whose origins remain tied to Chester County agriculture and a family recipe developed more than five decades ago.
