InsuranceAUM Forum Targets Private Credit Risks for Insurers

InsuranceAUM

MALVERN, PA — InsuranceAUM will convene insurance investment executives in Austin, Texas, on November 12–13, 2026, to examine private credit and asset-based finance amid heightened regulatory scrutiny, interest-rate uncertainty and questions about how insurers should allocate capital to alternative investments.

The third annual Insurers’ Private Credit Forum will bring together chief investment officers, portfolio managers and other insurance investment professionals to evaluate the role of private credit in long-term portfolios.

The event comes as insurers weigh private lending and asset-backed investments against traditional fixed-income securities, equities and other private-market strategies.

InsuranceAUM, which is affiliated with Malvern-based The Institutes, said the forum will focus on investment allocation decisions, market risks and relationships between insurance asset owners and investment managers.

Michel Léonard, chief economist and data scientist at the Insurance Information Institute, will deliver a keynote examining how private credit fits within broader investment portfolios.

His presentation will address geopolitical volatility, interest-rate uncertainty and regulatory scrutiny of the asset class, including how insurers can distinguish structural market changes from cyclical pressures when determining investment allocations.

The forum will be co-chaired by Kenyatta Matheny, chief investment officer at EquiTrust Life Insurance Company, and Randell Beamon III, CFA, CAIA, also of EquiTrust.

The two executives will help develop an agenda focused on investment challenges facing insurance companies.

InsuranceAUM plans to expand its investor-led discussions and introduce additional educational roundtables while retaining a format centered on prearranged meetings between institutional investors and investment managers.

The organization said it will maintain a two-to-one ratio of limited partners to general partners, giving insurance asset owners a larger presence in discussions with firms managing private investment strategies.

Limited partners are investors who commit capital to investment funds, while general partners typically manage those funds and oversee investment decisions.

“With an LP-focused agenda, educational roundtables, and a keynote, it will create even more opportunities to learn and exchange ideas,” said Wesley Carroccio, executive director of InsuranceAUM.
