DEVON, PA — Fox & Roach/Trident Charities, the charitable arm of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, REALTORS®, raised $80,630 for Cradles to Crayons’ Ready for Learning Initiative, which ensures 60,000 kids in need throughout Greater Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware have the tools and critical essentials they need for the new school year, through its 18th Annual Backpack Challenge.
This year’s funds filled 4,031 backpacks, plus an additional 456 filled backpacks donated, for low-income and unhoused youth, including school supplies, clothing, shoes and hygiene items. In addition to the monetary donations, over 200 Fox & Roach and Trident sales professionals and employees donated volunteer time to Cradles to Crayons to fill over 45,000 backpacks at the organization’s Giving Factory and the annual Philadelphia and Delaware Backpack-A-Thons. The Fox & Roach executive team also matched employee and sales professional donations, contributing $5,200 to purchase an additional 260 backpacks for youth returning to school.
“Our Annual Backpack Challenge has become a beloved and important tradition at Fox & Roach, and I can’t thank our dedicated sales professionals, employees and leadership along with our families, friends, clients and sponsors for their continued support,” said Kassie Erb, president at Fox & Roach/Trident Charities. “Now more than ever, families across the region are overburdened by the costs of getting their kids ready for school. We are proud to support Cradles to Crayons as they work to ensure every child can return to school with the confidence to succeed and achieve.”
Since 2006, Fox & Roach/Trident Charities has donated over 62,775 backpacks and supplies, totaling more than $856,000 for Cradles to Crayons. The backpacks and essential items are distributed by Cradles to Crayons to families in the communities Fox & Roach serves by partner organizations. A list of 2023 partners can be found here.

Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. Items are supplied free of charge by engaging and connecting communities.
