MALVERN, PA — TELA Bio, Inc. (NASDAQ: TELA) appointed Heather Getz as chief executive officer and a director effective Aug. 9, replacing co-founder Antony Koblish as the medical technology company shifts leadership toward its next stage of commercial growth.
Getz joins TELA Bio after most recently serving as executive vice president and chief financial and operations officer at Butterfly Network, Inc. (NYSE: BFLY), where her responsibilities included strategy, capital allocation, cash management and investor relations.
The appointment puts an executive with experience in financial and operational restructuring at the helm of TELA Bio as the company focuses on commercial execution.
“As TELA Bio enters its next phase of growth and commercial execution, the Board is pleased to welcome Heather as our next Chief Executive Officer,” Chairman Joseph Capper stated.
Before Butterfly Network, Getz served as executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer at BioTelemetry, Inc. During her tenure, BioTelemetry’s market capitalization increased from about $50 million to $2.8 billion before Philips Healthcare acquired the company in 2021.
Getz previously held executive positions at Healthy.io, VIASYS Healthcare Inc. and Alita Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Getz identified accelerating commercial execution and strengthening customer relationships among her priorities.
Koblish co-founded TELA Bio and led the development and commercialization of its soft-tissue reconstruction portfolio, including OviTex products.
“It has been a privilege to lead TELA Bio and work alongside such a talented and dedicated team,” Koblish stated. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together over the years.”
TELA Bio did not provide additional details about Koblish’s departure or identify an ongoing role for him in the company.
