MALVERN, PA — Saxton & Stump has appointed Ian Wood as director of applied AI, a newly created role focused on developing and managing artificial intelligence initiatives across the law firm and its affiliated companies.
The firm said Wood will oversee efforts to integrate AI into legal services, business operations and client-facing processes.
His responsibilities include AI governance, technology integration, cybersecurity alignment, regulatory compliance and risk management, according to the firm.
Wood will also lead projects aimed at identifying practical uses for AI and managing implementation across departments.
“We have been working on a technology, software, and technical infrastructure plan for many years, and we believe someone with Ian’s extensive experience will be instrumental in the incredibly important step of accelerating value for clients,” Chairman James W. Saxton said.
Wood previously advised law firms and professional services organizations on implementing AI platforms and managing large-scale operational and technology initiatives, the firm said.
He has experience developing enterprise project management programs and overseeing complex transformation projects in regulated industries.
Wood earned his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and is expected to receive an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in May.
“Saxton & Stump has made a deliberate investment in the infrastructure and governance necessary to implement AI responsibly and effectively,” Wood said.
Saxton & Stump is a full-service law firm with about 300 professionals, including more than 150 attorneys, and operates several affiliated companies that provide business advisory services.
