Red Rover Adds 560 School Districts as Customer Base Grows 35%

Red Rover

EXTON, PA — Red Rover added 560 school districts to its customer base over the past year, a 35% increase, as the Exton-based education technology company expands its workforce management software business amid demand for consolidated human resources systems in K-12 education.

The company now serves more than 2,200 school districts nationwide, representing over 740,000 employees, and reports a 99% customer retention rate.

Red Rover also disclosed that 15 districts have purchased its complete human capital management platform, which combines employee absence management, recruitment, time tracking, professional development and personnel records.

Those districts are implementing the software in stages, replacing separate administrative systems with integrated workflows.

The expansion reflects growing demand among school administrators for technology that can reduce manual processing and coordinate staffing functions across departments.

“K-12 districts face workforce challenges unlike anything before — teacher shortages, rising administrative burdens, and ongoing staffing and retention pressure,” said Daniel O’Shaughnessey, Red Rover’s chief executive officer.

Among the districts adopting the full platform are Elizabethtown Independent Schools and Bourbon County Schools in Kentucky, Oak Park-River Forest School District 200 in Illinois, and Sylvania City School District in Ohio.

Sylvania Schools, which employs approximately 1,000 people, has used the software to consolidate employee records and connect hiring procedures with human resources and payroll operations.

“When I took this role five years ago, we had a patchwork of spreadsheets and separate platforms for absence, time, and professional development,” said Josh Tyburski, the district’s executive director of human capital.

The district reports that integrating those functions has simplified recruitment procedures and reduced administrative questions from school principals.

Bourbon County Schools, a Kentucky district with 423 employees and a two-person human resources department, has moved onboarding, employment applications and personnel records into Red Rover’s platform.

Scott Muntz, the district’s assistant superintendent, said the transition allows employees to complete paperwork remotely instead of visiting district offices.

The company identified Westview School Corporation in Indiana, Vandalia-Butler City School District in Ohio and Sweeny Independent School District in Texas among its newest customers.

Red Rover’s expansion comes as school districts evaluate staffing technology intended to support recruitment, employee retention and administrative efficiency.

While 15 districts have purchased the full suite, other customers use selected functions and may add capabilities over time. The company’s reported growth figures cover its broader district customer base, not exclusively full-platform contracts.
