Rajant Corporation

MALVERN, PA — Rajant Corporation announced the appointment of Kenneth J. Braithwaite, a retired U.S. Navy rear admiral and former U.S. secretary of the Navy, to its board of directors.

The company said Braithwaite will provide strategic guidance as Rajant expands its networking technology business in defense and industrial markets.

Braithwaite served as the 77th secretary of the Navy and previously was the U.S. ambassador to Norway.

During his tenure as Navy secretary, he oversaw development of a tri-service maritime strategy involving the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, according to the company.

He also led the Department of the Navy during the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining military operations, the company said.

Braithwaite is a 1984 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served as a naval aviator flying P-3 Orion aircraft before transitioning to public affairs assignments.

He later commanded Navy Combat Camera Atlantic and served as the Navy’s first vice chief of information before retiring from active duty in 2011.

“Ambassador Braithwaite’s distinguished career in national defense, international diplomacy, and industry leadership brings tremendous strategic value to Rajant,” Chief Executive Officer Bob Schena said.

Braithwaite said he was honored to join the company’s board as demand grows for secure networking technology supporting defense and critical infrastructure.

Rajant develops wireless networking technology used in industries including defense, mining, transportation, manufacturing and logistics.

The company is headquartered in Malvern and operates additional facilities in Arizona and Kentucky.
