KENNETT SQUARE, PA — As the final hours of 2025 wind down, Kennett Square invites the region to welcome the new year beneath one of the most iconic symbols in Chester County: the radiant, rising Mushroom. This beloved tradition, hosted by The Mushroom Festival and the Kennett Area Restaurant & Merchant Association, transforms downtown into a dazzling celebration filled with music, spectacle, and community spirit.
Set for December 31 at 106 W. State Street, Midnight on the Square runs from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM and offers a full evening of entertainment. Visitors can park at Kennett High School or the 600 S. Broad Street lot, with handicap-accessible shuttle service available from both locations. Families are encouraged to join the early festivities as the lighted Mushroom is lifted at 8:55 PM, giving children a front-row experience in opening the night’s celebration.
This year’s entertainment lineup promises an unforgettable New Year’s Eve, delivering a dynamic mix of live music, stage performances, laser lights, and interactive fun. The evening begins at 7:00 PM with performances by School of Rock, KMC Dancers, Veronica, Syde 2, and Fred McCarthy. Lehigh Valley Events & Productions, LLC will again provide a vibrant laser show along with a two-hour photo booth for guests looking to capture memories of the night.
At approximately 8:50 PM, weather permitting, the illuminated Mushroom will ascend 80 feet into the night sky—an early countdown designed especially for young families and anyone who wants to celebrate ahead of the midnight rush.
Guests can also take part in the Mushroom Drop Stress Ball 50/50 Raffle at 10:15 PM. Stress balls cost $10 each and are available via Venmo @kennettsquaremerchants, at The Mushroom Cap on West State Street, or onsite before 10 PM.
As midnight approaches, anticipation builds. The official countdown begins at 11:59 PM, culminating in the Mushroom Drop that has become one of the region’s most cherished holiday traditions. Just before the final moments of the year, KARMA will draw the winners of two gift baskets brimming with at least $2,500 in gifts and gift cards from Kennett Square merchants. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10.
Admission to Midnight on the Square is a non-perishable food donation, supporting Kennett Area Community Service and ensuring the spirit of giving stays at the heart of this festive night.
With brilliant lights, live performances, family-friendly excitement, and a welcoming sense of community, Kennett Square once again promises a New Year’s Eve celebration that shines brightly into 2026.
