Community Celebrates Health Care Heroes During Latest Holiday Weekend in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, PA — Hundreds of children and their families honored first responders and health care heroes last weekend during Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester.

Kids and their families were invited to explore ambulance, police and West Chester Fire Department trucks along with construction vehicles during a “Touch a Truck”  event in the parking lot at Chestnut and Church Streets. They also met firefighters and signed a thank-you banner to let local heroes know how much they appreciate their service during the pandemic.

It was all part of First Responders and Health Care Heroes Weekend sponsored by Krapf Transportation. Visitors strolling through West Chester’s sidewalks, shops and restaurants could scan QR codes visible on postcards and signs, with 100% of QR code donations going to local fire departments, police departments, EMS and health care workers. The QR code donation initiative continues throughout the remainder of the holiday season in downtown West Chester as well as on GWCC.org. This coming weekend is ‘Twas the Weekend Before Christmas in West Chester, packed with holiday festivities for families as they do last-minute shopping amidst West Chester’s thousands of holiday lights, stunning window displays and decorations.
