CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, Big Fish centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest. Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him—most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son, Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Overflowing with heart, humor, and spectacular stagecraft, Big Fish at SALT Performing Arts is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to live theatre—for an experience that’s richer, funnier, and bigger than life itself.

“Big Fish centers on the thematic questions of mortality and how a hero lives on, as well as fatherhood and what makes a good dad,” comments Lauren McComas, President and Artistic Director of SALT Performing Arts. “The musical addresses these questions as the father tells tales to escape his mortality and to connect to the heroic version he has of himself in his imagination, while his son tries to get a better understanding of the true details of his father’s life. Our over-the-top talented cast will artistically transport you through this fantastical story, filled with gorgeous music about the stories that truly define who we are and how we live our lives.”
