COATESVILLE, PA — A cherished Chester County tradition continues this summer as the 96th Annual Old Fiddler’s Picnic returns to Hibernia County Park on Saturday, August 9. The event is expected to draw hundreds of musicians and fans for a full day of live acoustic music, community, and family fun.

The Old Fiddler’s Picnic brings together both seasoned performers and hobbyists from across the region to share the stage and the shade, with impromptu jam sessions echoing through the wooded park. Attendees can expect to hear everything from old-time fiddle tunes and bluegrass to Americana classics performed on violins, guitars, banjos, mandolins, and more.

“Old Fiddler’s Picnic is a celebration of music and a reunion of friends that fills the park with sounds that linger on for days to come,” said Katie Cook, Program and Events Coordinator for Chester County. “Where words fail, music speaks, and in this field, every beat becomes a shared heartbeat.”

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and either settle in for the stage performances or explore the park to enjoy the spontaneous melodies from informal pick-up groups. Musicians who wish to perform on the main stage can sign up onsite.

In addition to music, the event offers family-friendly activities including food trucks, artisan vendors, face painting, wagon rides, inflatables, and open green space to enjoy. Admission and parking are free. The event will go on rain or shine, though tents and canopies are not permitted within Fiddler’s Field. Pets are welcome but must remain leashed.

Now in its 96th year, the Old Fiddler’s Picnic remains a living testament to Chester County’s deep musical heritage and community spirit. Whether you come to play or just to listen, this summer staple promises a day of harmony, heritage, and heartfelt connection.
