PHILADELPHIA, PA — Prepare your taste buds for a culinary adventure as East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District hosts its 18th annual Flavors on the Avenue. On Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, South Philadelphia will transform into an epicenter of gastronomic delight. This cherished food festival, one of the city’s largest and longest-running, invites neighbors, visitors, and food enthusiasts to a vibrant celebration under the blue skies.
East Passyunk Avenue, known as one of America’s Top 10 Foodie Streets, will come alive with over two dozen of Philadelphia’s leading restaurants, cafes, and bars. Attendees can feast on an eclectic mix of street food, seasonal sips, craft beer, and live music, making for an unforgettable day of fun and flavors. Marvel at the culinary expertise of establishments like Barcelona Wine Bar, Bing Bing Dim Sum, and Le Virtu, among others, as they serve their signature dishes al fresco.
“Flavors on the Avenue is not just a festival; it’s our open invitation to experience the rich culinary tapestry that makes East Passyunk a premier food destination,” said Michelle Gillen-Doobrajh, EPABID Board President. With an impressive lineup of over 100 vendors, including more than 80 artists and makers curated by Nice Things Handmade, the festival promises something for everyone.
The air will be filled with the sounds of live music performed at four stages along the festival route, from the timeless tunes of Frank Sinatra to lively DJ sets. Stogie Joe’s, an East Passyunk legend, will ensure the crowd is dancing from start to finish.
Family fun is a cornerstone of the festival, with free activities like arts and crafts, games, a moon bounce, and more, presented by the Philadelphia Union Soccer and The Capri Dessecker Team | RE/MAX One Realty Realty. Meanwhile, local boutiques and businesses will open their doors for workshops and activities, offering a glimpse into the fashion, family, and retail gems hidden along the Avenue.
From home decor and handmade pet treats to artisan foods and fashion, the nearly 100 craft vendors represent the creative spirit of the community. “The event has blossomed into a showcase of not just food but also the diverse retail and family-friendly attractions of East Passyunk,” adds Gillen-Doobrajh.
Flavors on the Avenue is a testament to the vibrancy and unity of the South Philadelphia community, made possible by the support of sponsors like Samuels Seafood Company, Daiya Vegan Cheese, Penn Beer, and Forrester Property Management. This free, all-ages event invites you to sip, savor, and explore the culinary and cultural treasures of East Passyunk Avenue. Enjoy a day of delicious discoveries and make memories that will last a lifetime.
