WEST CHESTER, PA — The Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center (226 N. High St., West Chester, PA) will be taking its dance performances to the next level as it welcomes Chosen Dance Company – Evvolution on Saturday, February 19 at 7:30 PM.
Chosen Dance Company has been a pinnacle of hip-hop culture for over 20 years, spreading their message of peace, love, and harmony through dance. This troupe of dedicated artists makes it a point to provide an environment that inspires the youth of America through the fundamentals of movement, without explicit content. With live music, invigorating choreography, and a message that sticks, Chosen Dance Company knows how to engage fans.
The Philadelphia-based dancers have created and performed numerous theater-long performances over the years, including Look Ma’ …No Feet, and Hip Hop With A Conscience, a multi-faceted creative experience that combines poetry with traditional hip-hop dancing. The company is known for blurring the lines between historic hip-hop moves like the Pop n’ Lock or Michael Jackson’s Moonwalk, and the more contemporary flavors such as Waackin’, Krumpin’, and Getting Lite.
Every performance by the company caters to the youth of America, inspiring a love of hip-hop in everyone they meet, but it also includes pieces from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s making it the perfect family-friendly atmosphere. The Chosen Dance Company emphasizes the cultural significance of hip-hop as both an art form and a means of expression, teaching this appreciation to everyone they meet. The company’s goal is to validate hip-hop as an art form for everyone, regardless of ethnicity, age, or gender.

Concluding this month of sensational performances is Dueling Pianos (Feb. 24); Killer Queen (Feb. 25), Magical Mystery Doors (Feb. 26), and the Chester County Youth Orchestra (Feb. 27).
