PHOENIXVILLE, PA — In a delightful literary treat, Phoenixville Public Library is set to welcome local author Janice O’Brien on the evening of Thursday, November 16, 2023. O’Brien will discuss her writing process, read excerpts from her second book, “Eating My Way Through Life,” and sign copies for attendees. The event, which offers free registration for both in-person and online participation, promises a fascinating journey into the author’s life and love for food.

“Eating My Way Through Life” is not just a book about food; it’s a heartwarming collection of family stories where food plays a central role, uniting and bringing joy to everyone involved. O’Brien’s family were food enthusiasts long before ‘foodie’ became a buzzword, and their shared passion for cooking and baking has been beautifully chronicled in this book.

Growing up in the 1950s and 60s, O’Brien fondly recalls Sundays spent together as a family, with her mother crafting delicious meals entirely from scratch. She carried forward this culinary legacy, experimenting with new recipes, indulging in baking, and hosting guests, much like her ancestors did.

The book has garnered rave reviews from readers and fellow authors alike. Award-winning South African author Sindiwe Magona lauds the book for its “delectable details” and themes of “family love, togetherness, friendship, and neighborliness.” Another reviewer on Amazon.com complimented the book for leaving a “sweet taste” in their mouth and expressed their wish for the story to continue. The book takes readers on an exciting gastronomic tour, traversing various locales like Bermuda, London, Italy, Ireland, and Germany.

O’Brien’s first book, “Poems I Wrote When I Wasn’t Talking,” released in 2015, features two award-winning poems. After spending most of her life in the New York metropolitan area, O’Brien now resides in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Her second book, “Eating My Way Through Life: Family Stories of Skilled Cooks & Tasty Food,” is available on Amazon.com and will soon be available at Barnes & Noble Press.
