SALT Presents Mamma Mia, October 11 - 27, 2019

CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — SALT Performing Arts presents Mamma Mia, the musical, October 11 – 27, 2019. Just like over 60 million people worldwide, you’ll fall in love with the characters, the story, and the music that make Mamma Mia the ultimate feel-good show.

Written by playwright Catherine Johnson, Mamma Mia’s plot expressly strings together more than 20 ABBA hits songs, written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn. The storyline is irresistibly campy and fun, set on a Greek Island where a young woman named Sophie Sheridan is about to get married, and she wants her birth father to give her away.

Yet, she has no idea who it is, so she invites three men who were romantically involved with her mother 20 years ago to the wedding. When they arrive to the island, Sophie’s mother, Donna Sheridan, is brought back memories of love and heartbreak.

The story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs by an incredibly talented cast propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter, and friendship, creating an unforgettable show.

”When it opened on Broadway in 2001, Mamma Mia won over even the most cynical, sentiment-shy New Yorkers,” says Lauren McComas, SALT President and Artistic Director. “Not surprising as although the show features real power-house performers, Mamma Mia creates the beguiling illusion that you could jump on stage and start singing and fit right in. We went all out, recruiting top-guns Heather Mayes to direct and Larry Cox Jr. to choreograph.  Both have extensive national and international performing credentials and have inspired our all-star cast to push their talents to the limits. You will simply fall in love with this wonderful, hilarious show!”
