CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — SALT Performing Arts is set to make waves this September with its production of The SpongeBob Musical, marking the debut of its state-of-the-art high-definition video wall. Running September 5 through 21, the production is the first to premiere in the upgraded SALT 2.0 theater in Chester Springs.

Based on the hit Nickelodeon series, The SpongeBob Musical is a high-energy, Tony Award-winning show that weaves a story of friendship, courage, and community resilience as SpongeBob and his underwater companions confront the looming threat of a volcanic eruption. The production is designed to appeal to audiences of all ages, blending vibrant visuals with dynamic performances.

The new high-def video wall is a centerpiece of SALT 2.0’s technological upgrades, enhancing the theater’s capacity for immersive storytelling.

“We can not wait to plunge into this stunning all-star, all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show with our new high-def video wall,” said Lauren McComas, President and Artistic Director of SALT Performing Arts. “Much like the themes of SpongeBob — optimism, facing adversity, cooperation, and community — we thank our greater community for their ongoing support and generosity for making SALT 2.0 a reality.”

The cast includes Jason Scansaroli as SpongeBob, Stephen Fisher as Patrick, Samantha Hires as Sandy, and Katy Engelman as Squidward, supported by a full ensemble and creative team led by Director Sandi Joy Chadwick and Music Director Mike Toolan.

Performances will be held at SALT’s Chester Springs venue, with opening night scheduled for Friday, September 5, featuring a special “Dressy Attire & Champagne” theme. Additional showtimes include multiple matinees and evening performances through September 21.

Tickets are available online, with specific guidance for handicap-accessible seating and policies on late arrivals. Seating is assigned, and patrons are encouraged to arrive early.

As part of its ongoing commitment to community service, SALT will donate $1 from every ticket to the Chester County Food Bank and will collect canned pineapple at all performances—tying in humorously with the show’s underwater theme.

Founded as a nonprofit with a mission to unite and uplift through the arts, SALT Performing Arts offers year-round programming including community theater productions, youth camps, and preschool initiatives. The launch of SALT 2.0 and its technical upgrades signal a new chapter for the organization as it continues to grow its presence in the Chester County arts scene.
