WEST CHESTER, PA — New York City-based dance company, Ballets with a Twist, is set to bring a festive spin to the holiday season with their unique performance, ‘Cocktail Hour: The Show.’ This dynamic production, which features original choreography, music, and costume design, will be part of the inaugural Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center Holiday Extravaganza in West Chester, PA.
The show creatively blends the glamour of Hollywood’s Golden Age with a modern sensibility, transforming cocktails like White Russian and Hot Toddy into high-energy dance numbers. Throughout the evening, attendees will have the chance to enjoy beer, wine, and a selection of cocktails and mocktails from the program while watching the performance.
Artistic director and choreographer Marilyn Klaus, known for her choreography on international stages, created ‘Cocktail Hour: The Show.’ She formed Ballets with a Twist with Grammy-nominated composer Stephen Gaboury and costume designer Catherine Zehr. The company has been praised for “blasting the boundaries between high art and entertainment,” and has performed at prestigious venues throughout the country.
Program highlights include “Hot Toddy,” a chaotic romp through the Roaring Twenties, “Manhattan,” a sophisticated sequence following a socialite’s big-city evening, and “White Russian,” a festive trilogy portraying a royal winter wedding.
The performances will take place on the A. Roy Smith Mainstage at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center, promising an intimate theater experience where every seat delivers a great view. Ticket prices range from $35 to $45.
Stephen Gaboury’s compositions, having been performed by renowned musicians across the nation, provide the musical backdrop for the show. His work has been featured on television, in films, and in concert, and he has toured with pop/rock icon Cyndi Lauper for over a decade.
Catherine Zehr, the creative force behind the company’s costume design, brings each dance to life with her dazzling and ornate creations. She developed her skills while working at major American fashion houses and designing attire for her own label.
