Downingtown Schools Set Stage for Blockbuster Spring Musical Season

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The curtain is rising across the Downingtown Area School District this spring, with hundreds of students preparing to bring a slate of well-known and crowd-pleasing musicals to stages at all five secondary schools.

District officials said the 2026 spring musical season highlights the depth of student talent and the district’s continued investment in performing arts education, with productions spanning classic Broadway hits, modern favorites, and timeless comedies.

Downingtown High School East will open the season with Mamma Mia!, featuring performances Thursday, March 12 through Saturday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are priced at $18 for adults and $14 for students and seniors and are available online at downingtowneasttheatre.com.

Downingtown High School West will follow with Chicago, staging evening performances Thursday, March 26 through Saturday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m., and a Sunday matinee on March 29 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets go on sale March 1 at westmusical.net.

At Downingtown STEM Academy, students will present The Odd Couple, with performances scheduled for Friday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each show, and tickets will be sold at the door for $10.

The middle schools will also take the spotlight. Downingtown Middle School will present Annie on Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on February 8 at 1:00 p.m. All performances are sold out, underscoring strong community interest.

Lionville Middle School will close out the lineup with High School Musical, performing Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available at bit.ly/LMSHSMTIX.
