CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Daniel B. & Florence E. Green Foundation and Firstrust Bank have announced the opening of submissions for the 55th annual Samuel A. Green Scholarship Program. This year, the program will award multi-year academic scholarships totaling $360,000 to college-bound high school seniors.
Eligible students can receive a multi-year award of up to $20,000, distributed evenly over four years for those attending a four-year college or university and over two years for those attending a community college.
Richard J. Green, Trustee of the Green Family Foundation and Chairman of Firstrust, expressed his excitement about the scholarship program. “My grandfather, Firstrust’s Founder, was a steadfast champion for education. It is a privilege to honor his legacy and passion for empowering youth in our community through this scholarship program for the past 55 years.”
Those eligible to apply for the Samuel A. Green Scholarship are high school graduating seniors and rising college freshmen from any school, home-schooled students, technical school graduates, and GED recipients planning to be full-time students at a community or four-year, not-for-profit, accredited college or university. The scholarship is available only to legal U.S. residents or citizens living or attending school within the Greater Philadelphia or Lehigh Valley areas.
Employees, officers, or directors of the Green Family Foundation or Firstrust Bank, their family members, or persons living in their households are not eligible to apply.
To apply for the Samuel A. Green Scholarship Program, students must submit an essay of 300 words or less answering the question: “How will you use your college education to make a substantial impact in your community?” The top 100 applicants will be selected as semi-finalists and will need to provide a letter of reference and a copy of their high school transcript.
Applications must be submitted online before March 3, 2024. Semi-finalists will be notified in late March 2024, and winners will be notified in May 2024. For more information, visit the Green Family Foundation website.
