LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA — The Lincoln University men’s and women’s basketball teams scored big both on and off the court during the 2024-25 college basketball season. Through Food Lion Feeds’ Score to Give More initiative, the men’s team sank 300 free throws, resulting in 30,000 meals donated. The women’s team matched that effort, contributing another 30,000 meals to support neighbors facing hunger in the local community.

This remarkable achievement is part of a broader partnership between Food Lion Feeds and 51 collegiate basketball programs during the season, including 15 women’s teams across eight states. The initiative provided more than 1.6 million meals for individuals experiencing food insecurity. For every free throw made throughout the season, Food Lion Feeds donated 100 meals, helping campus food pantries and local Feeding America® partner food banks.

“The Score to Give More Program is about raising awareness about food insecurity in our communities and engaging college students in the fight against hunger,” said Kevin Durkee, Manager of Food Lion Feeds. “It also strengthens our college partnerships and supports our students and student-athletes. We are incredibly proud to collaborate with so many colleges dedicated to making a real difference.”

Since its inception in 2019, Score to Give More has provided more than 6.5 million meals to those in need. Lincoln University’s contribution this season demonstrates the power of collective action in addressing hunger at the community level.

Food Lion Feeds, founded in 2014, has made combating food insecurity its mission. By participating in initiatives like Score to Give More and the Sack to Give Back program, which donates meals for every quarterback sack made, the organization has helped provide over 1.5 billion meals nationwide. Food Lion Feeds aims to donate a total of 3 billion meals by 2032.
