PHOENIXVILLE, PA — On Friday, March 3, 2022, at 6 p.m. Renaissance Academy Charter School will be having a ribbon cutting to unveil their Black Lives Matter mural created by the Renaissance Academy School students. Renaissance Academy is a Charter School that is a fully accredited, tuition-free, award-winning public charter school. Renaissance Academy was incorporated in the Fall of 1999 as a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation with the purpose of establishing and operating a non-profit, non-sectarian charter school in the Phoenixville School District in Phoenixville, PA.
Renaissance Academy’s Art Department created The Black Lives Matter mural in support of the Black Lives Matter movement founded in 2013. The Renaissance Academy students, families and alumni collaborated on the creation of the mural over the past two years. The mural will be used as a teaching tool within the Renaissance Academy social science department to educate the K-12 students about the Black Lives Matters movement and the issues, which are still a part of our culture. We hope that this will help to foster unity and understanding amongst the students and stakeholders alike.
Renaissance Academy Charter School will be cutting the ribbon on an incredibly meaningful mural. It was designed and created by the students themselves and serves as a powerful statement – standing in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. You can doubtlessly expect this to be an emotional occasion with student representatives assigned to cut the ribbon, alongside Mayor Peter Urscheler who will be in attendance. The school’s board of trustees, Chief Executive Officer, and other staff members will also speak briefly at the event which begins at 6 p.m. This event has been arranged within the scope of Renaissance Academy’s mission which is to foster an inclusive environment by instilling high standards and a growth-minded ideology coupled with unique experiences.
