WEST GROVE, PA — The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has unveiled its latest educational facility, the Child & Career Development Center – Engle Education Campus, positioned to serve over 350 students across its secondary and early childhood programs. The newly renovated campus is set to open this fall, with applications still being accepted.

The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony are scheduled for September 17, coinciding with the September CCIU Board Meeting. This milestone will officially inaugurate the Engle Education Campus as a vital hub for educational services in Chester County and beyond. Ahead of the grand opening, school leaders will get an exclusive preview tour on July 28 at 1:30 p.m., with representatives from all 12 Chester County school districts and nearby states invited to attend.

Families of enrolled students are also invited to explore the state-of-the-art facility during a welcome ice cream social on August 20. Additionally, on September 25, the Arc of Chester County will tour the campus, enjoying a luncheon prepared by Culinary Arts students from the Technical College High School Pennock’s Bridge Campus.

The Engle Education Campus, created in partnership with the Avon Grove School District, will host a variety of programs tailored to meet the needs of its community. Services include autistic support, emotional support, life skills education, and multiple disabilities support across elementary and secondary levels, as well as preschool special education programs.

For younger learners, the campus will provide two Early Head Start classes, four Head Start classrooms, five special education preschool classrooms, itinerant preschool services, an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) clinic, and a dedicated family engagement space. These resources are bolstered by a cutting-edge gross motor room designed to support student development.

It is a truly special building designed to elevate educational services right here in Chester County,” said Shannon Brown, principal of the Engle campus. “We eagerly anticipate welcoming our partners from local school districts, as well as students, families, and community organizations for a sneak peek. This center represents an opportunity to provide the support needed to build a stronger and more inclusive community focused on dignity and student success.”

Tamara Acuna, CCIU’s assistant director of grants, emphasized the benefits of the new centralized space for multiple programs. “I’m excited for our expanded Preschool and Migrant Education opportunities at Engle because it brings several dedicated CCIU teams together under one roof, creating new opportunities for collaboration, connection, and seamless support for the children and families we serve,” said Acuna.
