CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) wrapped up another successful season of Summer Career Academies, offering students entering grades six through nine the chance to explore potential career paths through hands-on, skill-building programs. Hosted across CCIU’s three Technical College High School (TCHS) campuses — Pennock’s Bridge, Brandywine, and Pickering — the one-week academies focused on combining real-world problem-solving with technical and academic development.

“We loved working with Chester County families this summer,” said Andrea Vaughn, CCIU supervisor of adult education and workforce programs, alongside Becky Greene, summer career academies coordinator. “Our programs help students explore careers, build confidence, and grow a love of learning that continues at TCHS.”

At TCHS Pennock’s Bridge, more than 125 students participated in sessions held from June 23-27, 2025, exploring fields such as aerospace exploration, animal science, automotive engineering, cosmetology, criminal justice, electronics and robotics, game design, health careers, home remodeling, law enforcement, and mobile app coding. The campus also hosted five specialty culinary arts camps, each accommodating up to 15 students per week.

Across all three campuses, the academies emphasized hands-on learning in real-world settings, giving Chester County students early exposure to a variety of industries and the tools needed to explore their passions. By combining technical training with personal discovery, the programs aim to build confidence, spark curiosity, and support long-term academic and career success.
