BERWYN, PA — A fast-growing student robotics team turned its first competitive season into a major success, as Blast Robotics captured the Rookie All-Star Award at the FIRST Mid-Atlantic Centennial Robotics Competition.
The award, given to a first-year team that best represents the mission of FIRST through innovation, teamwork, and community impact, capped a standout debut for the student-led group operating under Keystone STEM Alliance Inc. The competition brought together teams from across the region, with Blast Robotics emerging as one of the event’s most recognized newcomers.
In just a few months, the team expanded from two members to 35 students and raised more than $10,000 in early funding, building momentum both in competition and through outreach efforts. Their impact extended beyond the event itself, reaching approximately 300 students through STEM programs and initiatives.
“We arrived at the competition as the new kids on the block, but we didn’t let that slow us down,” said student leaders Vivaan and Virat Ram. “We grew from a small group into a family of 35 in record time, and seeing our outreach programs reach 300 students globally showed us how far our work can go.”
Mentor and coach Mr. Baker said the team’s success reflects the strength of its resources and long-term vision.
“This recognition proves that when students have professional resources and a dedicated workspace, they exceed every expectation,” Baker said. “We are building a long-term pipeline that prepares students to lead the next generation of technical innovation.”
Throughout the season, Blast Robotics established a professional-grade engineering workspace supported at an estimated $60,000 value and formed partnerships with organizations including COGENT, Eadeh Enterprises, and Isolite Corporation. The team’s performance and rapid growth contributed to an energetic and competitive atmosphere at the event, with students demonstrating both technical skill and strong collaboration.
Thank You to Sponsors and Community Partners
Team leaders credited the success of their rookie season to the support of sponsors and partners, including Eadeh Enterprises, NASA, Comcast, the Department of Defense STEM Program, and Isolite Corporation. Organizers said these contributions provided critical funding, mentorship, and resources that helped students succeed both in competition and in outreach efforts.
With a major award secured in its first season and continued growth underway, Blast Robotics plans to expand its programs and outreach, building on this year’s success as it prepares for future competitions.
