EXTON, PA — Uwchlan Township has tapped a seasoned law enforcement veteran to lead its police department, announcing the appointment of Jim Fisher as chief of police, effective February 3, 2026, following a leadership transition at the top of the department.
Fisher brings more than 30 years of law enforcement experience to the role, including service with the Pennsylvania State Police and, most recently, as police chief of Upper Pottsgrove Township in Montgomery County. His background spans executive leadership, patrol and investigative oversight, policy development, and a strong emphasis on community-focused policing.
Township officials said Fisher’s appointment reflects a continued commitment to professional, responsive public safety services as the community moves forward after the retirement of longtime leaders.
“Chief Fisher’s experience and leadership style align well with the expectations our community has for professional, responsive policing,” Board of Supervisors Chair Laura Obenski said. “We are confident he will continue to strengthen the department and its connection with residents.”
Vice Chair Bill Miller pointed to public safety as a driving factor in the decision, saying Fisher’s extensive leadership background will provide lasting benefits to the township in the years ahead.
Supervisor Larasz Moody said the board was particularly impressed with Fisher’s focus on teamwork, officer development, and community trust, calling those qualities essential to maintaining the department’s high standards of service.
Fisher succeeds Chief Scott Alexander and Lt. Maureen Evans, who both retired January 31 after years of service that township leaders credited with shaping the department into a respected organization.
In accepting the role, Fisher said he is eager to begin work in the community.
“I am honored to join the Uwchlan Township Police Department and to work alongside the dedicated officers and staff who serve this community every day,” Fisher said. “I look forward to building strong relationships with residents, Township leadership, and our regional partners as we continue to prioritize public safety and community engagement.”
Township officials said the appointment signals continuity and stability for the department, reinforcing Uwchlan Township’s focus on strong leadership, community partnerships, and high-quality policing.
