PARKESBURG, PA — The Parkesburg Borough Police Department is opening a civil service testing process to immediately hire full-time police officers, adding to local law enforcement recruitment efforts as agencies across Pennsylvania continue competing for qualified candidates.

Applications are available through the department’s Crimewatch website at https://crimewatch.net/us/pa/chester/parkesburg-boro-pd or may be picked up at the police department during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.

Completed applications must be received by 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10. Applications may be hand-delivered or mailed to Parkesburg Borough Police Department, c/o Ann Smoker, 315 W. First Avenue, Building 2, Parkesburg, PA 19365.

The written examination is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Parkesburg Borough Hall. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m.

After the written exam, candidates will undergo physical agility testing on the campus of the Octorara Area School District.

Candidates who pass both the written examination and physical agility testing will be notified of a date and time for an oral interview.

After interviews are completed, remaining eligible candidates will be placed on an eligibility list approved by the Parkesburg Borough Civil Service Commission.

Candidates may then proceed to additional screening, including a polygraph examination, psychological examination, and background investigation.

Applicants who complete those steps may receive a conditional offer of employment, pending a final medical examination to determine fitness for duty.
