KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Kennett Square Police Department has announced a recruitment drive, offering opportunities for individuals interested in community-focused policing. Applications are available both online and in person, with the deadline set for 4 PM on July 12, 2024. There is no fee to apply.
The department is looking for candidates who meet several criteria. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, U.S. citizens, and free of any felony or serious misdemeanor convictions. They must also be physically and mentally fit to handle the responsibilities of a police officer.
Prospective officers will undergo a rigorous selection process. This includes a physical agility test, written test, oral interviews, and various examinations such as psychological and polygraph tests. A comprehensive background investigation will also be conducted. Applicants must demonstrate good moral character and be able to perform all required duties without any physical, emotional, or mental impairments.
Candidates need to possess a high school diploma or equivalent. While Act 120 certification is not required to apply, successful candidates must obtain and retain this certification if chosen for a cadet sponsorship by the municipality. Applicants must also be free of illegal drug use, as verified by laboratory testing, and hold a valid driver’s license.
The Civil Service Physical Agility Testing and Written Testing will take place at Kennett High School on Saturday, July 27, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM.
