HONEY BROOK, PA — The Honey Brook Community Library marked a new chapter in its service to Chester County residents with the reopening of its newly expanded facility. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on Friday, brought together State Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks), State Rep. Dan Williams (D-Chester), local officials, library leadership, and community members to celebrate the project’s completion.
The expansion nearly doubled the library’s size, made possible through a $1.14 million state grant announced in October 2022 by Sen. Muth. The $1.8 million project also received support from Honey Brook Township and private donors.
“Honey Brook Community Library was a wonderful place before the expansion because of the people that work here and the people that visit – now with the expansion, there is so much more space to grow, to expand programming, and to continue the positive impact that the library has on individuals and families across this part of Chester County,” said Muth. “The expansion of Honey Brook Community Library is exciting for our community and I really appreciate all of the work and coordination of everyone involved that made this a reality.”
The updated facility now features more programming and meeting spaces, upgraded ventilation systems, and additional learning areas tailored for children, teens, and adults.
Rep. Williams emphasized the library’s critical role in fostering lifelong learning and community growth, stating, “Libraries are more than a repository for books, they are the foundation of a successful community. That’s why I’m thrilled that we were able to acquire funding for the Honey Brook Library, doubling the space of the building, and providing more areas for activities and opportunities to learn for all ages. This expanded space will not only create the means for lifelong learning, but also a community hub where lifelong friendships will be born.”
Honey Brook Community Library Director Jennifer Spade expressed gratitude for the teamwork and dedication behind the project. “This is a great day for the Honey Brook Community Library and the community of Honey Brook. I’m so happy that we have created such a warm, welcoming space for the community,” Spade said. “I want to thank the library Board of Trustees, the staff, and our Friends of the Honey Brook Library group for all of the hard work they did to make this day possible.”
Construction on the expansion began in April 2024 and has since transformed the library into a more versatile space equipped to meet the growing needs of Honey Brook residents.
With its new facilities, the Honey Brook Community Library is poised to deepen its role as a hub for learning, connection, and community engagement, serving as a vital resource for people of all ages in Chester County.
