COATESVILLE, PA — Residents, families and visitors from across Chester County came together in Coatesville last Saturday to mark the 10th Annual Unity Day, celebrating a decade of community connection with live entertainment, family activities and an evening fireworks show.
Hosted at Gateway Park, the free event brought neighbors from Coatesville and surrounding communities together for an afternoon and evening highlighting the city’s diversity, resilience and civic pride. Live music, food trucks, local vendors and a dedicated Kids Zone created a festive atmosphere with activities for all ages.
The milestone celebration marked 10 years since Unity Day began bringing people from different neighborhoods and backgrounds together for a shared community event.
“For 10 years, Unity Day has brought people together across neighborhoods and backgrounds to celebrate community, inclusion and civic pride,” said James Logan, Coatesville city manager. “Our milestone 10th anniversary continued that tradition with an afternoon and evening of free summer fun for the entire community.”
This year’s festivities continued into the evening, when a fireworks display capped the anniversary celebration at Gateway Park.
Coatesville City Council President Linda Lavender Norris highlighted the turnout among local children and the significance of the anniversary.
“Here in Coatesville, every day is Unity Day, but this 10th anniversary celebration was clearly a special one for us and for the number of children that attended,” Norris said. “We are grateful for the support of our community partners and neighbors who made it so memorable.”
The City of Coatesville hosted Unity Day with sponsorship from Coatesville City Council. City leaders also recognized the community partners and neighbors whose support helped make the 10th anniversary celebration possible.
Community activities continued Friday with Coatesville’s Sounds of Summer Music Series at Gateway Park, with additional performances scheduled through Sept. 25.
