BERWYN, PA — The Berwyn Farmers’ Market is set to kick off National Farmers’ Market Week with the return of its popular signature event, Tomatopalooza, on Sunday, August 3. Held at Bronze Plaza from 9:00 a.m. to noon, the open-air celebration honors tomatoes in all their forms and shines a spotlight on the broader importance of supporting local farmers and food systems.

The event, free and open to the public, marks the start of the nationwide observance of National Farmers’ Market Week (August 3–9), a 25-year-old initiative that highlights the role farmers’ markets play in strengthening local economies, improving food access, and fostering sustainability.

Tomatopalooza will offer a lively mix of family-friendly activities, including complimentary tomato tastings, live music by Good Call, themed giveaways, a step-and-repeat photo area, and interactive programming hosted by Easttown Library. The day will also feature tomato-inspired foods, handmade gifts, and art from a rotating roster of more than 70 local vendors, along with a guest appearance from food truck Bad Mother Shuckers.

“Culinary Harvest is thrilled to be back with our annual Tomatopalooza celebration at Berwyn Farmers’ Market,” said Carlo Luciano, co-owner of Culinary Harvest and Berwyn Farmers’ Market. “Come hungry for our full line-up including prepared foods ranging from delicious baked goods to offerings from our food truck of the week. We spent great time and attention to perfecting every detail for this new season—including our kick-off for National Farmers’ Market Week with Tomatopalooza. This was a local fan favorite from last season and we are thrilled to bring it back each and every year.”

“National Farmers’ Market Week and Tomatopalooza are important to showcase the role of farmers’ markets in our community,” Luciano added. “Through our curated network of local producers and farmers, we hope to enhance the farm-to-table connection; educate the residents of the Main Line about the benefits of locally-grown food, from flavor to nutrient quality; and offer guidance on agricultural transparency and practices. In return, Main Line residents can directly support local producers, artisans and small businesses. It is a win-win for everyone.”

Founded in 2023, the Berwyn Farmers’ Market has quickly become a Main Line destination for fresh produce, artisanal goods, and community engagement. Now in its third season, the market has expanded to feature 25 to 30 rotating vendors each Sunday, including farms like Conebella and Solidago, specialty producers like Fishtown Pickle Project and Gryphon Coffee Co., and local makers ranging from bakers and distillers to ceramicists and jewelers.

Each week also includes live music, a rotating food truck lineup, children’s activities, and spotlights on local nonprofits. Upcoming programs include educational visits from organizations such as Indian Run EEC and Back to Earth Compost, as well as charity partnerships with groups like T&E Care and the Women’s Resource Center.

In addition to celebrating seasonal produce, Tomatopalooza aims to deepen public understanding of how local markets support food security and economic resilience. According to market organizers, buying local reduces reliance on global supply chains, keeps revenue in the community, and promotes transparency in food sourcing.

“This is about more than tomatoes—it’s about building a sustainable, community-driven food system,” said Luciano.

Berwyn Farmers’ Market runs every Sunday through December 21 (except July 6 and November 30), from 9:00 a.m. to noon, at Bronze Plaza, 511 Old Lancaster Road. Parking is complimentary. The event is rain or shine and welcomes all ages—including dogs. Tomatopalooza is presented by Culinary Harvest, with major support from Eadeh Enterprises and additional backing from First Resource Bank, The Village Wellness, and Groovy Pediatric Dentistry.
