HARRISBURG, PA — Mavis Tire Supply will pay $215,000 under a Pennsylvania settlement resolving allegations that the vehicle-repair chain charged customers for unnecessary or unperformed services and performed some work improperly, with most of the money earmarked for consumer restitution.
The Assurance of Voluntary Compliance, filed in Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, provides $190,000 for consumers who were harmed and $25,000 for costs. An additional $100,000 would become payable if Mavis violates the settlement terms.
Mavis operates more than 130 locations in Pennsylvania. Under the agreement, the company must maintain oversight and employee training intended to ensure compliance with consumer-protection law and the settlement.
The Attorney General’s Office alleged that Mavis recommended and charged consumers for vehicle repairs or maintenance they did not need, billed for work that was not actually performed and, in some cases, failed to complete repairs in a skilled or workmanlike manner.
The settlement does not constitute an admission by Mavis that it violated the law.
Attorney General Dave Sunday said the restitution is intended for consumers who “paid for services they did not need or want.”
Consumers who have already filed complaints may qualify for restitution, while those who have not yet done so have until Jan. 26, 2027, to submit a complaint with sufficient supporting information.
Complaints can be filed with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection online, by calling 1-800-441-2555 or by emailing scams@attorneygeneral.gov.
