PHILADELPHIA, PA — Security Risk Advisors Chief Marketing Officer Joe Cicero was named a finalist for CRN’s Best Channel Visionary of the Year award, recognition tied to his work integrating the cybersecurity firm’s sales, marketing and Microsoft partner strategy.

CRN, a publication of The Channel Company, included Cicero among finalists for its second annual Best of the Channel Awards. Winners are scheduled to be announced Oct. 13 at an awards event in Atlanta following the company’s XChange Best of Breed Conference.

Security Risk Advisors said Cicero developed a structured co-selling model with Microsoft that influenced more than $10 million in services revenue and expanded the company’s partner-sourced sales pipeline. The firm did not disclose the period covered, its methodology for attributing revenue or comparative pipeline figures.

Cicero oversees marketing, branding and partner programs at Security Risk Advisors, a Philadelphia-based cybersecurity consulting firm. He previously worked in Microsoft’s security business.

Under Cicero’s leadership, the company aligned its sales and marketing operations with Microsoft Security products, including Sentinel and Defender, according to Security Risk Advisors.

The company also joined the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association and obtained Microsoft’s managed extended detection and response verification designation.

“Joe quickly distinguished himself as a transformative leader, unifying marketing, alliances, and sales into a single, accountable growth engine,” Security Risk Advisors Chief Executive Officer Tim Wainwright stated.

Maria Thomson, director of the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association, said Cicero’s focus on scalable co-selling reflects how technology providers are adapting to an industry increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and integrated software platforms.

CRN’s awards program recognizes companies, teams and executives working in the information technology sales channel, which connects technology vendors with resellers, consultants, service providers and other partners.

“The finalists of the CRN Best of the Channel Awards represent the very best of the IT channel,” Jennifer Follett, vice president of U.S. content and executive editor of CRN, stated.
