PHILADELPHIA, PA — GIAC and ISC2 now recognize participation in Security Risk Advisors’ Purple Team exercises as an eligible continuing professional education activity, allowing cybersecurity professionals to earn certification credits while conducting hands-on testing.
The exercises involve analysts, engineers, and incident responders working together to simulate cyberattacks based on MITRE ATT&CK techniques and evaluate detection and response capabilities.
Security Risk Advisors said participants can earn up to 15 CPE credits per engagement, based on approximately 15 hours of active participation during testing sessions.
Under GIAC guidelines, the activity is categorized as cyber range training, with a limit of 12 credits per renewal cycle. For ISC2 certifications, the activity qualifies as Group A credits, with one credit awarded per hour of relevant learning, subject to program limits.
Beginning in April 2026, participants will receive documentation including their name, activity details, participation hours, and a summary to support credit submissions, the company said.
Participants must attend at least 80% of scheduled sessions to qualify for credit, with attendance monitored throughout the exercise.
Security Risk Advisors provides cybersecurity consulting services focused on threat detection, resilience, and testing methodologies.
