Long-Term Closure Ahead for Vine Street at 9th in Philly

Traffic Advisory

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the intersection of Vine Street and 9th Street will close beginning Monday, October 20, for roadway and utility construction under an $8.5 million safety improvement project in Center City.

The intersection will remain closed 24/7 through February 3, 2026. Westbound motorists will be detoured via Callowhill Street or Ridge Avenue to 10th Street and back to Vine Street, while eastbound traffic will use Arch Street, 11th Street, and Vine Street.

The project includes lane reductions, upgraded traffic signals, ADA-compliant curb ramps, bike lanes, and resurfacing along Vine Street between 8th Street and Broad Street. Construction is expected to conclude in summer 2026.

PennDOT advises motorists to expect delays and plan alternate routes.
