Wilmington Man Charged After Gun Threat Incident in Edgemoor, Police Say

WILMINGTON, DE — Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police arrested a Wilmington man following an incident in which he allegedly threatened individuals with a firearm during a verbal dispute in the Edgemoor area.

According to police, the incident occurred on Friday, September 26, 2025, at approximately 9:09 p.m., near Rysing Drive and East Salisbury Drive. Victims flagged down members of the Active Crime Trend (ACT) Team, reporting that a male suspect had pointed a gun at them.

Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Flor Cruz. A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of a silver Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun. Police stated that a database check confirmed the firearm had been reported stolen.

Cruz was taken into custody and transported to New Castle County Police headquarters. He has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of aggravated menacing, and receiving a stolen firearm.

Following arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Cruz was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $48,000 cash bail.

All criminal charges are allegations. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
