WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department’s Cold Case Unit is appealing to the public for assistance in solving the 2022 killing of Bilal Byrd, who died after being shot on the city’s East Side.

According to police, the shooting occurred on March 22, 2022, at approximately 9:01 p.m., when officers responded to the 300 block of South Heald Street for reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found 27-year-old Bilal Byrd, who had been shot. Byrd was transported for treatment but later died from his injuries.
