Wilmington Police Arrest Man on Gun Charge Following Patrol Stop

WILMINGTON, DE — A 21-year-old man has been arrested after Wilmington Police say they discovered he was carrying a loaded firearm during a patrol stop in the city’s downtown area.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on August 15, 2025, at approximately 9:04 a.m. when officers on patrol in the 700 block of North Market Street observed an individual acting suspiciously.

Police identified the man as Elijah Baker. During the encounter, officers allegedly found Baker in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.

Baker was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $10,000 secured bail.
