WILMINGTON, DE — A Newark man has been arrested following an investigation by Wilmington Police into alleged drug activity in the city’s Midtown Brandywine neighborhood.
According to officials, the incident occurred on August 15, 2025, at approximately 11:15 a.m. when members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were conducting surveillance in the 200 block of North Rodney Street. Investigators say they observed an individual engaged in suspected drug transactions and made contact shortly afterward.
Police identified the suspect as 56-year-old Thomas Bransford of Newark. During the encounter, officers allegedly recovered approximately 60 grams of marijuana, 3.16 grams of crack cocaine, and packaging material.
Bransford was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities report that Bransford was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and released after posting $5,100 secured bail.
Law enforcement officials emphasize that a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
